Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant
Location: Wantage
Job Type: Full Time (or minimum of 4 days), permanent
Salary: Competitive /Depending on Experience
Angel Wilkins LLP is a friendly, boutique law firm specialising in Residential Conveyancing and Wills and Probate. The Firm was established in 2010 and serves clients in Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, The Cotswolds, Bath, Bristol, Reading and across the South of England.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a friendly, motivated individual to join our Conveyancing team based at our Wantage office as a Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant with great prospects for training, qualification and career progression if desired.
Role
You will be assisting the fee earner with their busy caseload and work closely together to provide high quality support to enable them to carry out their work, dealing with all administrative duties relating to client transactions and secretarial requirements including but not limited to:
- Ordering property searches.
- Dealing with ID/AML procedures and requirements.
- Working directly with clients to ensure a seamless service.
- Drafting contract packs and client care letters.
- Assisting the clients, developers and brokers with any queries either by telephone or email.
- Sending standard correspondence to clients.
- Drafting Stamp Duty Land Tax form in preparation for report to client.
- Write to clients and solicitors confirming exchange.
- Obtain OS2 and Bankruptcy searches and downloading the search results onto case file and lender portals.
- Obtain closing statements from clients and order ISA/LISA funds.
- Order redemption statements from lenders on sales.
- On completion ensure submission and payment of SDLT is made to HMRC.
- Arranging completion letters to client and solicitors, sending deeds etc on sales to solicitors.
- Submitting END1s/DS1s to existing lenders/HTB on sales.
- Submit the AP1 to Land Registry to register clients as new proprietors.
- Responding to Requisitions raised by the Land Registry.
- Send title documents to lenders and clients.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience within a Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant role for a property team desirable
- Excellent organisation capability with the ability to effectively prioritise
- Ability to work quickly, to deadlines and under pressure
- Competent with IT applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook, and experience on case management systems
- Possess high levels of speed and accuracy
- Have a good telephone manner and be comfortable speaking with clients, solicitors and third parties on the telephone.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Fast, accurate typing ability, ideally using digital audio systems.

Experience of working in Conveyancing is preferred. The successful candidate should be motivated, keen to learn and be able to manage workloads effectively and efficiently.
